Whitsitt & Associates, Inc. was established in 1988
by local appraisers who recognized the need for a full service appraisal
office to serve the growing demands of our expanding community. Our staff
has over 50 years of combined local real estate and appraisal experience.
Individual Appraiser Profiles:
Stephen D.
Whitsitt, MAI, SRA, holds
the MAI and SRA designations of the Appraisal Institute and Certified
General license of the State of Illinois. He has been an appraiser for over
thirty years, with experience in appraising commercial properties, eminent
domain, special use properties, as well as expert witness testimony. He has
served as an instructor at Parkland College and guest lecturer at the
University of Illinois. He has written and instructed a continuing
education course for the State of Illinois.
Kathryn A. Reeves is an Illinois State Certified General
Real Estate Appraiser. She has been active in the real estate field since
1985. Her appraisal experience includes a variety of commercial, industrial,
special use, and income properties. She additionally holds an Illinois Real
Estate Broker’s license, and has been an instructor at Parkland
College.
Mark S. Whitsitt began as a residential appraiser in
2006. He has completed
educational requirements through the Appraisal Institute since that time
and is proficient in the areas of residential home valuation, vacant
residential land valuation, 2-4 unit rental valuation, as well as
condominium and zero lot line valuation. He became a certified residential
appraiser in Illinois in 2010 and holds an Associate in Arts degree from
Parkland College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois
University. Mr. Whitsitt has
served as the secretary/treasurer for the Heart of Illinois Chapter of the Appraisal
Institute in 2007, is an active member of the Homebuilder’s
Association of East Central Illinois, and a member of United Ways Emerging
Community Leaders Program for 2011.
Mr. Whitsitt currently engages in work for lenders, individuals,
relocation appraisals, divorce work with/without court testimony, and
estate and fire damage valuations.
Stephen M. Schroeder began as a residential appraiser in
2011. He has completed basic educational
requirements through the Appraisal Institute and is an Illinois state
licensed Associate Real Estate Appraiser Trainee. Mr. Schroeder is an active realtor
in the Ford/Iroquois County area and is proficient in completing supervised
appraisal work for residential homes, zero lot lines, and
condominiums. Mr. Schroeder
holds an insurance sales license in Illinois as well. Mr. Schroeder is a past vice
president and treasurer of the Iroquois/Ford County Association of Realtors
and was a director for that association in 2006. He holds an Associate in Applied
Sciences degree from Danville Area Community College and a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Eastern Illinois University.
J. R. Knight began as a residential appraiser in
2011. He is completing basic
educational requirements through the Appraisal Institute and is an Illinois
state licensed Associate Real Estate Appraiser Trainee. He is proficient in completing
supervised appraisal work for residential homes, zero lot lines, and
condominiums. Mr. Knight was
previously an associate planner with the Champaign County Planning and
Zoning office for five years and is a former member of the American
Planning Association. He holds
a Bachelors degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois.
